Creative Production Specialist

At American Greetings, I work with a wide array of technical and creative processes to create pre-market prototypes. I supervise a team of on-call employees to manage multiple production jobs simultaneously while handling job routing and administration as well as inventorying and ordering of materials. My position is a crucial step in between product design and manufacturing, ensuring quality control and accuracy as products move from concept to production. Additionally, my department is involved with a fair amount of company-wide R&D and new product innovation projects. I am also involved with the Gallery Committee and Maker Group. Routine jobs require:

  • Paper prototyping and hand die cutting
  • Laser die cutting and etching
  • Programming and assembly of complex tech modules with sound, light and motion
  • Large format mounting and laminating
  • Screen printing

Chief Preparator

For one year I worked for Transformer Station, a collaborative venture between The Bidwell Foundation and the Cleveland Museum of Art. I was responsible for all aspects of exhibition installation and I managed a team of art handlers. Responsibilities included:

Exhibition Technician

At MOCA, I worked to install a vast array of art exhibitions. Everything from paintings and photographs to multi-media projections and site specific sculptural installations. Additionally, I held positions as the weekend manager, the head of the gallery guard program and I regularly conducted docent tours. Responsibilities included:

Art Handler
Masterpiece International | New York, New York

On several occasions I worked as a contractor for Masterpiece traveling to install the Art Basel contemporary art fairs in Miami, Florida and once in Basel, Switzerland. During these rigorous excursions I have worked as a crate handler and art installer for various galleries such as Michael Werner, Sperone Westwater, Marian Goodman and Marlborough.

Museum Technician

For several months I temporarily worked in the AIC Art Installation department. I worked to install the Post-War and Contemporary galleries in their recently constructed Modern Wing. I also worked on the Cy Twombly: The Natural World exhibition and the Beyond Golden Clouds exhibition of ancient and modern Japanese screens. After the opening of the Modern Wing, I worked to assist various departments of the museum with art handling and installation.

Progressive Insurance | Mayfield Village, Ohio
December 2004 – January 2009

For over four years I worked as the principle caregiver of over 7,000 pieces of contemporary art, including several massive site-specific installations at Progressive’s corporate headquarters. Beyond my basic responsibilities, I worked with contractors on special projects and I was responsible for ordering all installation and packing materials for the collection as well as maintaining the Preparator’s portion of the annual budget. I acted as an artist’s assistant for visiting artists and accompanied the Curator on acquisition trips to New York City. The small size of the art department often required me to perform Registrarial and Curatorial duties as well. Responsibilities included:

Assistant Conservation Technician

I worked assisting Conservators with all of their installation and handling needs while specializing in packing. I also routinely traveled as needed acting as a courier and on-site technician. Occasionally I performed conservation work on objects, paintings and murals. Other responsibilities included: wood-working on frames, crate building, mixing chemicals and building maintenance. I gained conservation experience working on a broad range of artworks and objects, in various mediums, from ancient to modern.
